And so our adventure begins! This trip is the epitome of “finally leaving the group chat.” Before Billie was even a thought, we had planned to go to Italy with my family to celebrate my mother’s 60th birthday. It seemed so far away, but now it’s finally here!
Since we were going to be in the general vicinity, we decided to add a stop in London to visit my best friend, who recently relocated there to be with her fiancé.
First lesson of the trip: procrastination is not an option. I paid the price as I manically packed for both Billie and myself. I had a whole plan to pack over the weekend, but that didn’t happen. It was a recipe for forgetting something, but thankfully, I didn’t.
We flew out of the one terminal at Newark Airport that doesn’t offer TSA Pre-Check. That wouldn’t have been so bad if they had more than one person checking boarding passes and passports. It took FOREVER. Thankfully, Billie was at peak cuteness, smiling and waving at all the disgruntled passengers, which I think made the time go faster for everyone.
Billie was amped up before the flight—squealing, squirming, and kicking her feet. I was sure she was going to be a handful on the plane.
Instead, she fell asleep within minutes of boarding and stayed down almost the entire flight. Her sleeping meant we also got to sleep. A win-win.
I won’t say we landed 100% refreshed, but it definitely helped offset the jet lag. Once we collected our bags, we were off to Finsbury Park in London!
Stay tuned for part 2!
